My academic career arose form a desire to move out of the engineering sector where I had spent some ten years. Although the work was rewarding, in terms designing and developing novel solutions to emergent issues in the rail sector, I had developed a desire to learn more of psychology. This inevitably put me on a path to an academic post at Keele University initially. I worked in the Management Department teaching Organisational Behaviour/Psychology whilst conducting research into the Stoke-on-Trent ceramics industry. Eventually I moved to the University of Wolverhampton Business school where I continue to work in the Organisational Theory field.

Research interests are in an eclectic mix of areas. I am interested in the idea of power from a Foucauldian perspective. Feminism and power differentials drawing from the post-structuralist philosophical work of Judith Butler and Donna Haraway. My core interests are in the field of identity (as an iterative process) in relation to Ricrian ideas of time and narrative. Lately I’ve been involved in research projects in student plagiarism (both from an ethical perspective as well as a practical one)

Currently a Reader in International Business, but previously the Head of Department of Finance, Accounting and Business and PL professional courses at the University of Wolverhampton.  Previously worked at the University of Northampton as Head of Economics between 1983 and 2003.  While at University of Northampton, worked as an external consultant/researcher on a number of projects such as disability in the workplace, an assessment of safety cameras, an evaluation of motorsport within Northamptonshire, and export performance of SMEs.  In addition worked closely with Northampton Business Link in assessing their annual monitoring of businesses within the county.  Before that, worked as a research associate for the University of Leicester on departmental projects examining various aspects of the teaching profession, such as job search and the return to teaching by qualified teachers.

Research interests lie in the areas of UK competitiveness, the internationalisation of small firms and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). In particular the focus lies with explaining the determinants of inbound FDI into the UK regions, with emphasis on the regional, national and supra-national factors and whether the determinants of regional FDI differ by source country, mode of entry, and the different measures of the size of FDI activity. The research also considers the spatial distribution of the regional FDI and the role emerging markets and transitional economies play in the flow of FDI to the UK regions.

Before joining UWIC in February 2003, Mukul worked in industry as a recruitment consultant‹ and on consultancy projects with various organisations. He has been involved with a number of modules on the MBA programme (such as Strategic Management and People and Organisations). He was responsible for managing the dissertation process as the MBA Dissertation Convener for over two years. Currently he is the module leader for International Management, which is one of the optional modules on the programme but his key responsibility is welfare of the MBA students as the MBA

Paul is a Fulltime Senior Faculty at the Westford School of Management. He is the supply chain specialist and one of the management facilitators at the institution. Paul is well known for his high impact and interactive sessions with students. He has had well over 18 years of experience in the area of Supply Chain Management, gaining extensive knowledge in warehousing, strategic procurement, inventory management and freight logistics.

A fulltime practitioner for most of his career, the exposure to several market sectors including healthcare, aviation, construction and power generation, has contributed to his part- time teaching profession for the past 11 years in Trinidad and Tobago.

Paul has played a key role in the development of the profession in Trinidad and Tobago, both in and out of the classroom, where he worked closely with other experienced professionals in procurement and supply locally. This had led to the creation of a Trinidad and Tobago chapter of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). Paul held the position of Vice Chair and Treasurer of the Trinidad Branch and became an influential member of the Supply Management Association of   Trinidad and Tobago (SMA).

Paul’s teaching career focused comprehensively in supply chain and logistics training.  He has taught in a range of modules and levels in the CIPS programme, while developing and conducting Supply Chain short courses at the School of Business and Computer Science in Trinidad Tobago.

Biography

Prior to joining Wolverhampton Polytechnic, as it then was, I had spent two years working as a Research Assistant in the Local Economy Research Group at Portsmouth Polytechnic. On arrival at Wolverhampton, my main areas of teaching were: microeconomics, the economics of innovation and regional economics. At the same time I took on the role of Year Tutor for the First year on the Economics degree, which consisted of over 80 students. Over my career at Wolverhampton these two main activities, teaching and course leadership, have been the dominant themes, with the later addition of a role in quality assurance/enhancement. The focus of my current teaching is: introductory economics, managerial economics and organisational theory. I am currently course leader for the Integrated Joints within UWBS and also have responsibility for exchange students.

In the past my research interests were focussed on the role of high technology industries in the process of regional development in the UK, with a particular emphasis on the distribution of employment. My interest in the area of regional economic development has since continued at a more general level. He fine-tuned his leadership skills during his service of 24 years with the Indian Army, where he was a radar and guided weapons expert, heading a large combat unit under demanding operational conditions. He then gained valuable experience as the HR Head of a leading ITES company and later as Vice President with a construction company. Peter is an accomplished researcher possessing about 7 years of academic experience. He is pursuing his PhD in Management at the University of Economics in Prague, Czech Republic. During his PhD study, Peter managed many scientific projects mainly focused on Quality Management and Knowledge Management, published more than 20 scientific papers and presented the results of his research at various international conferences throughout the world including UAE, UK and US.
