Emerging HR Trends in 2022

Social Share

The COVID-19 epidemic has profoundly impacted the way we work, with companies implementing remote working arrangements and focusing their people strategies on wellness initiatives to protect their employees’ safety and well-being. While numerous organizations predicted that 2021 would mark the end of the pandemic, the emergence of Delta and Omicron variants has made recovery efforts more difficult, forcing several countries to impose yet another wave of lockdowns and restrictions. As we move forward in 2022, HR will continue to play a critical role in assisting the business in navigating another turbulent year, as well as the following trends.

Employee Experience:

The big resignation, as defined by Professor Anthony Klotz, will continue, as numerous companies see record-breaking voluntary departures. As a result of this trend, companies are rethinking their employee experience initiatives and processes. The employee experience, according to Gallup, is an employee’s journey with the company, including every encounter during the employee life cycle, as well as experiences related to the person’s function, workspace, management, and well-being. To manage the rippling impact of the so-called great resignation, companies will continue to engage in retention and employee experience programs.

The Hybrid Workplace:

The hybrid work model, which combines on-site and remote employment, is here to stay. Firms will have to regularly clarify which positions are acceptable for remote setup without compromising cooperation and workplace norms, as well as devise tactics to guarantee that individuals in such a setup feel socially linked to the organization’s culture. Furthermore, this tendency necessitates that HR examine the cost-effectiveness and practicality of such an arrangement on a regular basis.

The Rise of Flexible Organization:

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has released a Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, which establishes new labor arrangements. Part-time jobs, temporary labor, and flexible employment were all included in the law, which went into force on February 2, 2022. The revisions will provide both firms and individuals more freedom in reacting to the continuously changing and disruptive business environment.

HR Analytics:

The demand for HR experts to provide value to their companies by navigating the volatile workplace will continue to rise. The analytics and big data sector, according to IDC, will generate $274 billion in sales by 2022. HR professionals in the Middle East and Africa have a lot of space to grow and improve in this area. As artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning continue to impact the way we work, HR professionals will need to step up and improve the HR analytics expertise to take advantage of the benefits that these technologies provide. In collaboration with the Girne American University, Westford University College provides an HR Analytics modules in its fast-track MBA programs, that is designed to educate professionals with the skills they need to make informed and evidence-based decisions and strategies.
Whether new variants or breakthrough technologies develop to further disrupt the way we work, one thing is certain: HR professionals and executives must seize today’s opportunity and be prepared to assist their respective firms in building people’s capabilities to help them thrive in this highly competitive market.
