Amidst the unfolding events in Palestine, where communities grappled with the impact of conflict, the Westford Student Council took proactive steps towards making a difference. The “Tarahum for Gaza” campaign, which was launched in the UAE on 15th October, continued its humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people affected by the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, reflecting the country’s values of humanitarian support and solidarity. It aimed to offer solidarity with Palestinian children and families affected by the war, and to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable groups, especially children. The campaign worked to meet the basic needs of children and mothers, in addition to providing health supplies and general hygiene materials.
In collaboration with the Red Crescent Society, the student council of Westford initiated a two-day organization drive, ‘Tarrahum for Gaza,’ aimed at providing much-needed assistance to those affected by the crisis. The response from the student body was overwhelming, demonstrating the power of unity and compassion in the face of adversity.
The Westford student body’s response was not just overwhelming; it surpassed all expectations, underscoring the community’s remarkable empathy and generosity. Each student actively engaged in the donation drive, generously contributing essential items like clothes, food, and hygiene products. This collective endeavour yielded an impressive outcome, with approximately 100 boxes of aid collected within the span of just two days. Such an outpouring of support vividly illustrated the potent force of unity and compassion when confronted with adversity, leaving an indelible mark on the community’s spirit of solidarity.
The ‘Tarrahum for Gaza’ initiative at Westford highlighted the community’s altruism and the power of collective action. Students and faculty united, transcending borders to provide aid and exemplify global solidarity. Their unwavering dedication showcased the potential for impactful change when communities unite in empathy and responsibility.
A sincere thank you extends to every student and faculty member whose invaluable contributions made the ‘Tarrahum for Gaza’ drive an extraordinary success. The collaboration between the Westford Student Council and the Red Crescent Society serves as a shining example of the remarkable impact achievable through partnership and collective endeavours.
