WETEX – Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition and Dubai Solar Show was organized by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). This being the region’s largest sustainability and clean energy technology exhibition was hosted under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

WETEX 2022 is at the forefront of sustainability aimed at achieving integration between all sectors of the energy industry while bringing together trade and technology sectors and facilitating the creation of new trade opportunities to exchange new ideas and experiences and showcase the latest innovations. This is in line with Dubai’s vision to build a sustainable future for the emirate and is held annually under the directive of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE, ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

This year served as the perfect platform for students to engage and interact with the latest technological advancements and discuss the latest trends related to energy, water conservation, saving natural resources and building a sustainable environment. It was also an ideal opportunity for local and international companies and organizations in the country to share and show case their products and services. Organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, the event is a key part of Dubai’s vision to build a sustainable future for the emirate, and to inspire the wider region and world and believes that true sustainability relies on joined-up thinking.

The 24th WETEX and DSS, this year also consolidated Dubai’s position as a global hub for the green economy, supporting the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050. It provides an ideal platform for decision-makers and investors from around the world to meet, sign deals, build partnerships, and learn about market needs, future projects, and opportunities to join renewable or clean energy projects in the UAE and the region.
“The WETEX in Dubai took place from Tuesday, 27thSeptember to Thursday, 29thSeptember 2022 and attracted 62 sponsors, 32 partners and supporters and 1750 companies from 55 countries.”
Apart from getting to witness this once-in-a-year event, the sports cohort from Westford also participated and attended the World Green Economy Summit, as a part of their assignment requirement. The Summit aimed at propelling action to deliver a sustainable future. Convened in the lead-up to COP27 in Egypt and COP28 at Dubai Expo City, it included discussion about promising opportunities and investments for the public and private sectors from several local and global high-profile participants, including heads of states and governments, as well as prominent global speakers, official dignitaries from government organizations, academia, experts, and the media.

Educational trips are sight of learning and fun activities, Visiting WETEX was one of such. WETEX is a leading global Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition, organized since 1999 by Dubai’s Electricity & Water Authority DEWA where the us students got time to witness what the future holds not just in terms of technology but also in terms of business side of things for such important elements of living which in embedded in our daily life’s. Such trips hosted my Westford University really is insightful for us students to learn and grow other than our field of courses which already teaches us a lot. And besides, this was one of the reasons why I opted to join this university and couldn’t be thankful enough.
