Critical Path Method or CPM is used for creating a list of all tasks that are essential for completing the project giving due considerations for the time taken for each task and the effect of one task over another. Through critical Path method, an MBA professional can see what all resources are utilized for each task and how the quantity of each resource affect the working system.
The basic process involved in Critical Path Method is dividing the major tasks into sub sets and monitoring each one separately for finding out how each tasks is being completed. When should each task be completed is calculated using CPM and ways of reducing the time is calculated and implemented. Sometimes the same task will be having multiple tasks which can be used and the shortest and easy path with minimum effort which can be completed in less time is utilized for the work.
Through Critical Path method scheduling of tasks can be done easily. When new employees are introduced into the existing working scheduling it will be easy to assign tasks and choosing which line is best suitable for the employee. It is also possible to reallocate based upon the speed with which the employee is working in the particular task. How time and energy can be effectively utilized can be found out using the Critical path Method.
