I come from a pharmaceutical background and I work in the sales department of a pharmaceutical organization. In today’s time it is important to have an understanding and knowledge of the business side of the healthcare sector. And I wanted to explore and learn the management aspect of my industry. Hence, the MBA!

I learnt a lot from the MBA program, from research skills to the basic knowledge of how organization are managed and about the more complex structure of business, operations and management.

MBA taught me a lot of new skills and models to become a better leader. It mainly taught me the importance of being a leader who is honest, inspiring, and respected by others.

Online learning enabled me to continue my studies and it fit right into my working schedule. Allowing me to have a good work- life – study balance.

I will say – It was hard! There were times when I thought I made a huge mistake for pursuing an MBA at this stage of my life. I had work pressure and deadlines to meet, and I feared I might not be able catchup. But I guess pressure is important sometimes – its only under pressure we get diamonds out of coal. So, I feel all the troubles are worth it!

Having an MBA gives me an advantage to be promoted to a higher position. However, what is more important is the knowledge and understanding of the market that I gain through my MBA.

My final thesis resulted in a great skill development. The understanding of how biological drugs market are and how pharmaceutical companies are adopting the change in the market were very crucial and important for my career.

It did help me become more aware and allowed me to organize my thoughts about the role of healthcare industry better. It gave a better perspective of understanding, why organizations must have a CSR initiative. Going forward, I plan to provide the patients in the community to have better accessibility to medicine and if possible, make it more affordable.
